Hello! I’m the Mad Library Scientist, also known as Madcap. Or Jo, if you want to be boring. I’m a children’s librarian, and I’m engaging in an experiment to shake up my reading life. Basically, I want to expose myself to literature written for different age groups. I want to read as much children’s, middle grade, and YA lit as possible–obviously, so that I can better serve my patrons. But I don’t want to neglect my personal reading list either.
So this blog is to review the things I read. I’ll rotate through age groups, including adult and graphic novels. Have something you’d like me to review? Send it to me!
I may occasionally throw in reviews on programs or other library related ideas that I’ve tried, to give feedback on their success. So consider the Laboratory a place for books to be tried, ideas to be tasted, and librarians to let loose a little bit of their inner mad scientist.
